Most Respected CEO in Printing (Profile by The Business Executive)

A digital production artist and brand consultant, Mr. Kobby Ashong Mawufemor is the Chief Executive Officer of Asta Print Hub. In 2007, Kobby started Asta Print Hub, a small business serving clients in Ho, the Volta Regional capital.

The business received a major boost when Kobby introduced digital printing, a game changer which increased his efficiency and capacity to take on bigger jobs. Instead of holding unto this new technique, Kobby selflessly opted to share the knowledge which gave him a competitive advantage with his peers. He trained a number of colleagues in graphic designing and digital printing, thereby empowering them to improve their businesses.

After successfully building a steady business, Kobby left Ho in 2010 to expand the business in Accra, Ghana’s capital city. He started with modesty, working in a small Accra Newtown shop. In 2014, he moved to Busy Internet in Accra for a year before in 2015 he went to his current office at No. 14 Suhum Street, Accra New Town, with the support of Tord Johnson, the CEO of Escort Group of Companies.

In four years, Kobby, with the able assistance of his wife, Mama ASTA, built Asta Print Hub into one of the most competitive design, production and branding consultancies in Accra. His unbelievable achievement was rewarded when the public elected him the Most Respected CEO in Printing at the second edition of Ghana Industry CEO Awards held in Accra at the latter part of November 2019.

Through staunch dedication to excellence and customer-oriented services, the hardworking couple racked up an impressive list of clientele, including Promasidor, the Central Bank of Liberia, Ghana National Petroleum Company, among others.

In 2018, Kobby started ARX Studio, a multimedia startup that provides photo and cinematographic services for all kinds of indoor and outdoor events. With ultramodern equipment and expert personnel, ARX Studio is building a solid name for itself as a world-class audiovisual service provider. Despite its young age, ARX Studio has landed huge gigs, including the production of a documentary on the Asogli TeZa 2018 (Yam Festival) of the people of Asogli State in Ho.

Between 2012 and 2014, Kobby dabbled briefly in events management. He successfully organized a number of beauty pageants, including ‘Face of Asogli’ in Ho. He also organized other outdoor events, one of which was graced by Shatta Wale, the award-winning musician, in Ho.

Despite these achievements in a brief period, Kobby still aspires for more. He wants Asta Print Hub and ARX Studio to be not only one of the best design, production, photography and branding consultancies in Ghana but in Africa as well. And with a true Ubuntu mentality, he desires to achieve this through partnerships with like-minded business persons. Kobby is a torch bearer and role model for many young people. He is evidence that, with perseverance and hard work, one can achieve almost everything in life.

After the completion of his secondary school education in 2000, Kobby worked as a screen printer, tie dye and batik designer until 2003 when he enrolled at NIIT in Accra to study Computer Graphics. Following the successful completion of the NIIT program, Kobby did many jobs to gain work experience and learn best practices from established firms. Between 2004 and 2007, he worked with a number of production houses, including Omni Digital, Focal Screen Photo & Video Production, Golden Prints Nigeria and Mumsie Textiles Nigeria.

Born in 1981 at Ho, Kobby was nurtured by strong Christian parents who taught him to be selfdisciplined and God-fearing. These Christian values and principles that he learned as a child still guide him as a mature entrepreneur and professional. They remain the foundation on which he takes decisions both in his business and in private life.

He attended the Kabore School Complex in Ho before schooling at the Awudome Senior High School, where offered Visual Arts in 1997. At secondary school, Kobby’s creativity caught the eye of many of his tutors. Hence he was specially trained in the art of graphic designing and textile (tie dye and batik).
